"Do what you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life! Follow your heart and your passions, life is too short to do anything but."
-every inspirational quote page
You read all about how people quit their jobs and opened up some kind of business, charity, invented a product that somehow positively impacts the lives of others. They found their calling in life and they’re pursuing it every day. It’s awe inspiring and amazing and you wonder why that’s not you.
Well, you and I are in the same boat LOL
I used to think something was wrong with me when I couldn't name a single passion. I took all the personality tests, sat through a career counseling course, skimmed through Strengths Finder 2.0 and What Color is Your Parachute?
I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. All I know for sure is, I want to somehow bring happiness and light into people's lives. And if we were to ever meet, I hope to be that kind of person to you.
What else? I can make you 20 different kinds of pancakes and counting. My go-to karaoke song is "Save the Best for Last" by Vanessa Williams, and I want to learn how to be a mermaid. My favorite character of any movie is Captain Jack Sparrow.
I'm from California, and was originally pursuing a nursing career at my parent's request. But my heart wasn't in it, and in 2008 I stepped away. Since then, I've just been floating around, doing odd jobs, almost none of them related to one another, wondering what should be next. I knew I didn't want to be lost forever, but the question "What should I do for the rest of my life" needed an answer.
In recent years, to keep my sanity, I switched my focus to: "What inspires me in this moment?" I made a list of everything that would bring me joy, from the odd and mundane (did I mention I can make you 20 different kinds of pancakes?) to bigger goals, like traveling. I gave up the idea of focusing on one passion, and I decided to try it all.
And just like how my mom would knock on watermelons to find which one is sweet, I'm going around, looking for the sweet things in life.
This site is mainly for me to capture these moments all in one place, but I also hope that within this space (these pages??) you'll find something for yourself. Who knows, we may end up sharing the same adventures.
